In August 2001 we purchased 10 hectares of vines A.O.C. Coteaux du Languedoc located all in one block in the small village of Villeveyrac, just west of Montpellier.
As soon as we saw the vines it was “love at first sight”!
All the vines are gathered in a small valley behind an old, disused railway viaduct. We chose this bridge as the emblem of the Domaine.
The vines are 20 years old, on average, and are surrounded by garrigue on gentle hillsides of clay and limestone with a very stoney surface. A lot of the soil is red because of the bauxite ore found nearby.
This area is part of the “Grés de Montpellier”, a new born appellation within the Coteaux du Languedoc and benefits from influences from the sea, cool nights and warm days which allows complete ripeness.
The main varietals of our domaine are: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Alicante.
Roquemale in the Languedoc language means poor soil, which is in fact a positive thing for the vine, as it produces few grapes with greater concentration. Our average natural yield is about 30/35hl per hectare.
Our cellar is located in the centre of the village near our house, and dates from 1914. We have completely restored it and a shop is now open to offer our wines and some hand-made products.
Each day we try to learn, understand, build our reputation and communicate our passion. We hope this will give you the desire to come and taste our wine and meet us.....
